Ross Med is guaranteeing a limited number of Year 3 core clerkships at five of our regional affiliate hospitals.* This is an opportunity for aspiring students who would like to eventually practice in their home community.
*There is a limited number of guaranteed spots available at each site per term, and Ross Med cannot guarantee that all eligible students will be placed at the designated site in their home area. In addition to applying to Ross Med, being accepted, and paying the seat deposit before guaranteed clerkship seats are filled, students must meet all eligibility requirements listed below. Ross Med offers three start dates per year in May, September and January. New seats will become available for each start. An applicant may have the option to choose a later start if spots have been filled.

  • Your application address must reside within a determined radius of a core hospital, as listed below
  • Retention of a guaranteed clerkship seat requires students to successfully complete the medical sciences curriculum and pass the USMLE® Step 1 exam

How to Apply

Our three flexible start dates help you begin -and finish- your medical education on your schedule.
  • No additional forms are required.
  • Simply submit your Ross Med application and let your Admissions rep know you are interested in the Guaranteed Clinical Return Home Offer
  • Your admissions coordinator will notify you when seats are filled in the term for which you are applying
  • If one of our affiliate sites terminates its contract with Ross Med, every effort will be made to place you at the closest geographical site

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I choose to complete my elective rotations at other affiliated hospitals?
Yes! The offer guarantees a spot for your Year 3 core clinical rotations.*

What is required to apply to the MD program?
Ross Med’s admissions requirements include:
  • Completed prerequisite coursework, all of which cannot be more than 10 years old
  • A bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) or higher
  • Submission of your Medical College Admissions Test® (MCAT®) scores
  • Two official letters of recommendation
  • A personal statement

What is required for medical school?

Applying to Ross Med is very similar to a U.S. medical school. At Ross Med, our Admissions team looks at a variety of factors when reviewing your application to medical school, including:

  • Academic achievement (GPA and MCAT score)
  • Course Requirements – The minimum prerequisite requirements are:
  • Inorganic or General Chemistry: Two semesters (eight semester hours) with laboratories
  • Organic Chemistry: Two semesters (eight semester hours) with laboratories
  • General Biology or Zoology: Two semesters of biology or zoology (eight semester hours) with laboratories
  • Physics: One semester (four semester hours) with laboratory
  • Mathematics: One semester of college-level mathematics (three semester hours), preferably calculus or statistics
  • English: Two semesters (six semester hours)
  • Canadian students may satisfy the English requirements in 3 possible ways: (1) 2 semesters of University
  • humanities where essays composed at least 40% of the overall mark, (2) International Baccalaureate English and (3) Advanced Placement English.
  • Extracurriculars, including clinical experience, community service, and/or involvement in clubs or other organizations
  • Personal qualities, such as compassion and leadershi

Are Ross Med students eligible to receive US federal direct student loans?

Yes! Financial aid is available to those who apply and qualify. Qualifying U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens are eligible to receive Federal student loans through the Federal Direct Loan Program which includes the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan and Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan.

What happens if a site terminates a contract with Ross Med?

If one of our affiliate sites terminates its contract with Ross Med, every effort will be made to place you at the closest geographical site.

CAAM-HP is the legally constituted body established in 2003 under the aegis of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), empowered to determine and prescribe standards and to accredit programs of medical, dental, veterinary and other health professions education on behalf of the contracting parties in CARICOM.
