Top 5 Reasons You Should Apply to Ross Med

Hands-on From the Start

At Ross Med, we believe early hands-on learning gives students the experience and confidence to achieve. Immerse yourself in learning the practice of medicine, gain experience in simulation labs, and train alongside physicians, caring for patients in the community within weeks, not months.

A Proudly Accredited Institution

Accreditation by CAAM-HP is a rigorous, peer review process which examines all aspects of a medical program. The accreditation standards employed by CAAM-HP are comparable with those used to evaluate programs leading to the MD degree in the United States by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME.) This means you will have the opportunity to become eligible for Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates® (ECFMG ®) certification and to apply for U.S. residencies and licensure. View our accreditation and program recognition page for more information.

1:1 Dedicated Support

We think clinicals are too important to your development as a physician for you to do it alone. From your very first day you’ll have access to teams and resources dedicated to supporting your success.

REMOTE LEARNING OPTION

While we will continue to deliver our program in person on island in the May 2022 semester, we are excited to announce we are offering a remote option for first-time first-semester students for their first term only* to give them flexibility in learning options to start their medical education. RUSM is committed to providing medical students choosing to start online with the same knowledge and expertise that their classmates in Barbados will receive.

*The May 2022 semester remote option for new, first-time first semester students is contingent on the U.S. COVID-19 national emergency declaration and federal allowances. If the national emergency declaration and federal allowances are terminated prior to the end of the May 2022 semester, you will be required to complete your semester on island. The remote option is not offered to continuing students (semesters 2-5) or students repeating the first semester.

* Ross University School of Medicine is an accredited medical school, determined by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP, www.caam-hp.org). CAAM-HP is the legally constituted body established in 2003 under the aegis of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), empowered to determine and prescribe standards and to accredit programs of medical, dental, veterinary and other health professions education on behalf of the contracting parties in CARICOM.

Accreditation by CAAM-HP is a rigorous, peer review process which examines all aspects of a medical program. The CAAM-HP board, an independent and autonomous body of professionals, only certifies medical schools which are operating at the highest levels of industry standards.

Through this accreditation, the CAAM-HP provides assurance to medical students, graduates, the medical profession, healthcare institutions and the public that programs leading to qualifications in medicine meet appropriate national and international standards for educational quality, and that the graduates have a sufficiently complete and valid educational experience.
